We had the pleasure of documenting Tally and Andrew’s special day early last summer.  It was a spectacular event, where style, luxury and beauty came together.

Taking place at the luxurious Trump International Hotel & Tower, Andrew and Tally rejoiced the beginning of their new life together in style.  Judy Steiner of Judy Steiner Consulting did an excellent job of setting an intimate ambience and ensuring that every detail was in place.

The décor was breathtaking. Crafted by none other than Fuscia Designsit exuberated casual elegance and classic luxury. With contemporary details such as sparkling linens and exquisite floral arrangements, it was both beautiful and unique.

The two celebrated their love and life together surrounded by family and friends in a traditional Jewish wedding consisting of meaningful rituals and festivities symbolizing the beauty of their relationship, as well as their obligations to each other.  In the morning of the wedding, Andrew presented Tally with a special wedding gift, a scrapbook filled with images of their engagement shoot along with a lovely handwritten love letter.  When Tally opened her gift and read the letter, it was a beautiful whirlwind of emotions and love, which we proudly captured on camera and video.  ( click here to view feature video )

The reception was just as enjoyable, bursting with electrifying energy and laughter.  Dj Eric Bouaziz  did a brilliant job of keeping the party moving (and the dance floor full) all night.

It was the ideal wedding for an ideal couple and thankfully there are beautiful images and a spectacular video to commemorate it!

Mazel Tov to a wonderful couple that truly complement and complete each other.

Toronto winter weddings, Mark Anthony Studios, Cinematography and same day edit Tue, 25 Mar 2014 17:20:14 +0000 Winter Wonderland Elegance

Mark Anthony Studios was happy to put together a same day edit video for Eve and Andreas, which was shown on the evening of their special day. The video features their elegant Church ceremony and the traditional Chinese and Korean tea ceremonies, along with their stolen moments under the soft snowfall. The video captures not only moments, but all of the memorable reactions, while conveying the love shared between Eve and Andreas.

Eve and her bridesmaids were pampered and prepared at the esteemed Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto, where later the bride and groom laid eyes on one another for the first time that day- a magical moment captured through the video.  Bridesmaids and groomsmen were all given appreciatory gifts by the bride and groom- beautiful pendants designed by Tiffany and cufflinks designed by Links London,  before heading outside where they enjoyed the light snowfall, which provided an alluring white winter wonderland inspired backdrop for their beautiful photographs also shot by Mark Anthony Studios.  Eve was a vision in white herself, in a form fitting, mermaid style dress.

The couple exchanged vows in a beautifully decorated chapel before leaving for Liberty Grand where they took part in traditional Korean and Chinese tea ceremonies in the evening. The hall was decorated to perfection by close friend of the bride, Manish Pancholi of Dulhan Mandap, incorporating neutral colors and simple yet gorgeous centerpieces, which enhanced the elegance of the event. Daniella Watters,  freelance vocalist and songwriter, along with her band, crooned some of the couple’s favorite tunes as they celebrated the evening with each other, surrounded by friends and family, all captured by the crew at Mark Anthony Studios. Produced into a short and sweet montage of their day by the video crew, it was then shown at the end of the night to provide the perfect end to an unforgettable day.

Both the photography and cinematography teams worked together to produce the highest quality service. A team that works well together is reflected by a smooth and productive atmosphere and Mark Anthony Studios promises professionalism every time, ensuring all the key moments and memories are captured through flawless takes.

Best wishes to the happy couple!!

Muskoka weddings by Mark Anthony Studios Tue, 21 Jan 2014 22:51:51 +0000 A Lakeside Fairytale

On August 31st 2013, Mark Anthony Studios was invited to capture all of the beautiful moments, as Laura and Michael happily tied the knot at the JW Marriot Rosseau Resort and Spa overlooking Lake Rosseau. The location was a nod to the couples love for the cottage life and Laura’s fond childhood memories spending her summers at Lake Rosseau. The venue provided the couple with the ultimate sense of comfort and family, incidentally creating the perfect backdrop for their photographs.

The couple met through a mutual friend when they visited her at Jack Astors, where Laura works as an Events Manager.  It was love at first sight for Michael and his plan to strategically place himself at the table so that they would continuously have to bump into each other, worked.   Six months later, he proposed.

With help from the Marriot Rosseau’s event planning team, the couple exchanged their vows under blue skies, surrounded by the best of what nature (and the resort) had to offer, while family and friends watched joyously. The couple later shared a few stolen romantic moments as the sun began to set behind them.

The reception, decorated by Mode Function Event Design Ltd and Black Tie Packaging, offered the couple and their guests a wistfully romantic atmosphere to enjoy a beautiful cake designed by I Do! Wedding Cakes, and chase the sun by dancing into the night.

Mark Anthony Studios congratulates the couple and wishes them many summers to come on Lake Rosseau.

Destination Wedding, Cancun Mexico by Mark Anthony Studios Mon, 25 Nov 2013 15:19:49 +0000 Match Made in Holt

Giselle and Mike were married on March 29th  in the beautiful and tropical Cabo San Lucas, located in Mexico.   Mark Anthony Studios was invited to photograph the elegant and luxurious event which was featured in Elegant Wedding Magazine.

The couple first met at Holt Renfrew, where they worked together, but their professional relationship turned to something more when they reconnected after Mike was promoted and transferred to a different location.   Their shared love for kickboxing and fashion eventually led to their shared love for one another, and a year later on July 1st, Mike proposed.   The proposal was nothing short of romantic and something out of a movie.   Ironically, it was during a movie screening of ‘Bridesmaids’ when to Giselle’s surprise, she found a ring in her bag of popcorn. It was wedding bells, palm trees and white dresses from there.

Both non traditionalists, the couple dreamed of a destination wedding from the beginning and so, the beauty, culture and beaches of Mexico drew them to the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar.   Surrounded by palm trees, soft white sand and the sparkling blue Sea of Cortez, the hotel was a stunning setting for their dream wedding and of course, a beautiful backdrop for their photographs.

Fifty guests joined them to bask in the tropics and help them celebrate.   After a few days of relaxation, Mike and Giselle exchanged vows in a beautiful chapel located within the resort, decorated with candles and lavender to create a romantic ambiance.  They were serenaded by a female vocalist Nyda Aboumrad, before the couple then joined all of their loved ones on the beach and danced the night away under sparkling stars, to songs by Spanish guitar player Arturo Sotomayor, and DJ Edwin Bonilla.

The event- planned and organized by Giselle’s mother, event planner for EME Inc., Enaya Rabba- was beautifully decorated, incorporating everything Giselle had envisioned. It was a blend of fashion, elegance and the sea, as purple, green and blue colors enhanced and drew on the natural beauty of their surroundings. Centerpieces were a striking combination of the sea and sand, using sea shells, moss, sand and sand dollars, embellished with orchids and greenery. Custom made shells on each guest’s chair were studded with a pearl.

It was Giselle, however, who stunned in her form-fitting Carlos Miele gown.   A Cartier Trinity diamond engagement ring sparkled on her finger, along with her wedding band- a double pave ring by Charriol.   Mike’s handsome David Yurman wedding band incorporated black pave diamonds.

Their beautiful seaside, beach wedding was an unforgettable event, and their photographs will always be a reminder of the magical night and their everlasting love.

Destination Wedding Cancun Mexico, Mark Anthony Studios Tue, 12 Nov 2013 11:34:39 +0000 Something Old and Something Blue

Something old and something blue.  The old traditions of a beautiful Sikh wedding under clear blue Caribbean skies.

Mark Anthony Studios was invited to be a part of Ken and Pauline’s destination wedding in Cancun Mexico, to cover both photography and cinematography.  The event took place at the stunning Moon Palace Resort where luxurious accommodations and tropical weather met a fairytale setting for the British Columbia couple’s special day.  One hundred and fifty guests who traveled from Canada and overseas to celebrate the special day, partied, dined and lounged with the bride and groom, as we captured every magical, emotional and colorful moment of all three events;  the Mayian and Sangeet  (traditional cleansing ceremony and pre-wedding celebrations),  the Ceremony and the Reception, held on three separate days.

Big congratulations to the happy couple and may you enjoy the memories through your beautiful pictures, for many years to come!

I love Autumn.  It's a great season for photography.  Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing Hadi and Maurizio's engagement session at the Sunnyside Boardwalk in Toronto.   The weather was cold but the changing colour of the leaves against the clear blue sky turned out incredible.  They are such a fun couple. The session was a blast.   Here's a sneak peak for now.  Stay tuned, there's more to follow!

Toronto Wedding Cinematography by Mark Anthony Studios Mon, 04 Nov 2013 14:08:38 +0000 Mark Anthony Studios now offering  Motion Pictures ( Cinematography )

I’m excited to announce that we are now offering cinematography services to capture your special day, just the way you want it.

Gone are the days when clients were willing to accept unbearably long (two-to-three-hour) videotapes of weddings that simply covered the ceremony and reception in a linear fashion (i.e., from start to finish). Today, with state-of-the-art editing-suite technology at our disposal, after editing out the oohs, uhms and awes, a final feature-length video of a wedding should really be no longer than 20 minutes.

In an era of digital photography where smart phones and point-and-shoot cameras can record video, it is now more important than ever that the person behind the lens has the creative eye, experience and technical expertise to deliver an artistic and innovative final product that is unique and compelling for its audience.

Anyone can record or shoot a wedding, but it doesn’t mean he or she should. With over 20 years combined experience in cinematography, crafting wedding films (both features and shorts), music videos, corporate functions, conferences, event shootings, TV shows and entertainment/lifestyles channels, our cinematographers and editors have the vision, insight and flair to ensure that the end product meets the high-quality standards, unique creativity and incomparable service that Mark Anthony Studios has become known for.

Our cinematographers realize the potential for fun, heart-warming, creative video production within the wedding industry, and they express their passion through creative film, telling the unique and meaningful stories of our beautiful clients.

At Mark Anthony Studios, we specialize in shooting weddings cinematic style. This refers to a high-quality feature film or a short motion picture consisting of beautiful imagery, music and special effects. This style masterfully reveals our clients’ personalities and recounts the couples’ story while capturing the emotions and intricacies of their special day. In fact, our cinematographers can produce a four-to-five-minute piece (also known as same-day edit) for viewing at the reception, complete with music and voice-overs.

So whether you need beautiful pictures or cinematographic wedding films filled with personality and style, Mark Anthony Studios can be there to make it happen.

Since adding such movie-like video services here at Mark Anthony Studios, we’ve been overwhelmed with bookings. They’re such a wonderful complement to photos or as stand-alone production that can last a lifetime and beyond.

Contact us soon for a consultation as 2014 bookings are filling fast!

We offer the same-day edited pieces noted above. And, we are able to produce the videos on Blu-ray discs. Packages start from $3,595.

Mark Anthony Studios also offers destination-wedding coverage.  For instance, in June, we were in Mexico shooting a Sikh wedding (see trailer below ).

PODAS WORKSHOP IN ICELAND HOSTED BY PHASE ONE - ICELAND LANDSCAPES Tue, 15 Oct 2013 04:46:32 +0000 Where else can one find geysers, icebergs, glaciers, lava fields and waterfalls but Iceland! For six wonderfully picturesque days, I had the chance to join a PODAS photography workshops and work alongside talented and renowned photographers Peter Eastway, Steve Gosling and Kevin Raber who organized and led the course. Flying with Air Iceland was where the adventure began as I met a wonderful and passionate group of photographers from around the world also taking part in the workshop. Once we arrived, scenic views and natures splendor was what awaited us in the great Arctic. And great it was!

From there we were transported to the Hilton Nordica which gave us a chance to adjust to the new time zones, as well as the new equipment that we would be using. The next day we had the opportunity to capture all of what the beautiful landscapes had to offer. We rose early to explore some of the nicest towns in Iceland and visit lots of old houses, as well as a wonderful harbor where I took unmatched pictures. We took hikes in freezing temperatures, taking advantage of the fifteen hours of daylight; photographing the mountains, lava fields and the coastline of the peninsula. The richness and depth of the vast glaciers, lagoons and moraines was immortalized through the incomparable Phase One IQ160 photography system, which was an absolute delight to work with. We were able to capture the coexisting warm and cool colors through the masterpieces; depicting the peace and serenity of the mountains overlooking the sunrise on one hand, at the same time, capturing the powerful and untouched beauty of the glacier lagoons, such as the infamous Jokulsarlon. I was amazed in all that Iceland had to offer.

By the end of the trip, I was happy to come home with a head full of new knowledge, new photographic practices, lasting friendships, unparalleled experiences and last but not least, a hard drive filled with amazing images ( now available for purchase ) I am now proud to showcase in my art gallery. I will miss the breathtaking views and look forward to visiting Iceland again.

As the Icelanders would say, bless þangað til næst.
Goodbye, until next time.

True Love, True Luxury - Carina and Ray Thu, 02 Feb 2012 00:50:45 +0000 As seen on Editor's Blog

Carina and Ray were married on May 14, 2011 at the Paramount Conference and Event Venue in Woodbridge, Ontario.

(WedLuxe:) How would you describe your wedding day?

(Carina:) "Amazing. Romantic, whimsical and entertaining!"

What was your favourite design detail?

"Our centerpieces; which were highlighted by spot lighting. We opted for minimal flowers at our wedding. Instead, we used silver faux manzanita trees which we decorated with fresh orchids and strands of running crystal."

What was your biggest splurge during the planning process?

"Photography. Weddings go by so fast... we wanted to have amazing photography to help us remember our day forever."

Who was your favourite wedding vendor and why?

"All of them were amazing, accommodating and made our vision to come to life. But if we have to pick one, we'd have to say the Paramount. People forget how beautiful a hall is decorated and how good the entertainment is, if the service and food at your wedding are sub-par. The menu was excellent and their service was outstanding."

Carina wore a beautiful white San Patrick gown with a modern twist on a Spanish mermaid style with crystals and ruffles. Her bridesmaids each wore a different style dress by Dessy (to suit their individual body types) in sapphire blue and accessorized with custom jewellery by Tara Fava Jewellery.
